Born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Lilly’s journey into music began in the face of extraordinary challenges. Diagnosed with leukemia at just three years old, she found solace in melodies during long hospital stays, dancing to Hannah Montana and drawing inspiration from icons like Taylor Swift.

Her passion grew with her, from vocal lessons in sixth grade to piano in eighth, and by 16, Lilly was pouring her heart into songwriting. Inspired by artists such as Jason Isbell and Adele, her music captures the raw emotions of love, resilience, and self-discovery. At 17, she performed live for the first time, solidifying her dream to pursue a career in music.

Though 2023 was a milestone year for Lilly Moss, her dreams truly began to flourish in 2024 with the upcoming release of her debut country album, Meet Me on Broadway. Produced by Grammy-nominated Dan Malsch and an incredible team of musicians—including Johnny Nova, AJ Larsen, and Angelique Buckley—the album showcases Lilly's heartfelt storytelling and raw talent. Featuring the title track alongside standout singles like “Trigger” and “Heartbreak Summer,” the latter gained recognition on Spotify’s coveted “All New Country” playlist, marking an exciting chapter in Lilly’s career.

A semi-finalist in the Unsigned Only Music Competition and recipient of ArtsQuest’s Linny Award for Emerging Artist of the Year, Lilly Moss is a talent to watch.

This interview dives into the stories and inspiration behind her new album, Meet Me on Broadway.

GM: Congratulations Lilly on your debut album! Your musical journey began with vocal lessons in sixth grade. Do you remember the first song you performed in front of others, and how did that experience shape your confidence ?

Lilly Moss: Yes, funny enough I do! The first song I ever performed live was "Someone Like You" by Adele at my elementary school’s “Barnes and Noble night” where students who wanted to perform were welcomed to while other students and parents watched and shopped around the store. That was definitely my first taste of performing live and I remember being so incredibly nervous and at
that time I knew I loved music but didn’t understand the possibility of it being a career.

GM: You were diagnosed with leukemia at such a young age... How has that experience shaped who you are today, both as a person and as an artist?

LM:  Being diagnosed and beating Leukemia at such a young age gave me the mindset of never taking anything for granted. Every opportunity my family and I have been given we take it and give it our best shot as there was a time where I wasn’t allowed to partake in much. This especially transpires into my music career as my family encourages me to take every opportunity just as
much as I want to chase my dreams.

GM:  If there’s one feeling or thought you want listeners to walk away with after hearing this album, what would it be?

LM:  I think I would want listeners to feel confident. My songs in the album, no matter the topic, essentially talk about taking your power back whether it’s in an unhappy relationship or in wanting to pursue a love interest. I hope my album lights a fire in listeners to be proactive about whatever situation they might be going through.

GM: Who are your biggest musical influences at the moment? Which artists do you look up to the most?

LM: I have always looked up to Adele so she definitely has to be my original inspiration. Her music and her voice is so powerful and emotional that I only dream of producing music like hers. However another newfound inspiration who I discovered about a year or two ago would be Jason Isbell. His songs, like Adele’s, are pure poetry and I hope one day I can write music like him or maybe even get the opportunity to write with him!

GM:Which song on the album was the most difficult to write, and why? Were there any that felt especially cathartic to create?

LM: I think the last song that I wrote, “Love Me Loudly” was probably the hardest as I wanted it to be just as great as the rest of the album. It is one of those simpler songs which made it a little more challenging because you had to make just as big an impact with less words.

GM: You’re an advocate for pediatric cancer patients and their families. How do you envision using your platform and music to continue supporting this community?

LM: One of my favorite things is using my music and my voice to give back to a cause that gave me so much. I hope to continue to grow my platform to be able to reach more people about the Importance of donating to pediatric cancer patients and their families as well as using my music and songs to shed light on the cause.

GM: What’s next for you after the album’s release? Any plans for a tour, music videos, or more music on the horizon?

LM: Following the release I am excited to continue performing and performing the album. We have a few shows lined up with my full band, the Steel Ponies, where we will be performing the whole album. My first headline show will be on January 11th at 118 North Wayne in Philadelphia, PA which is super exciting! I plan to continue writing and releasing more music, we already have
some things in mind...
