On Sunday, September 22nd, we attended TwitchCon right here in our backyard—San Diego! Since we started streaming on Twitch, we've been intrigued by the fun-loving community that shares our passion for music. As we entered the convention, surrounded by people cosplaying, streaming as they walked, and gaming on massive monitors throughout the conference center, it all made sense. While exploring the booths, we saw vendors selling everything from tech gadgets to fan art, and fans excitedly meeting their favorite Twitch streamers—everyone was loving it.
However, we won’t lie; we were a bit disappointed by the lack of music-oriented panels or streamers. We did manage to head up to the roof to watch the incredible Twitch streamer Scott Chu perform with Sashi Boom, but on a typical San Diego summer day, it was too hot to stay for every set. While 'music content streamers' are a relatively new addition to Twitch, DJs and musicians have been performing on the platform for years, and we wish they were more prominently featured alongside gaming.
Still, it was an exciting day! We got to catch up with our friend J from Loudly Exclusive, who first encouraged us to join the platform, and we even met one of our original Twitch viewers in person! It’s amazing how friendships can develop through streaming, and meeting them in real life is such a testament to what Twitch can offer if you’re open to it.
