Los Angeles-based artist Em Beihold has been immersed in the world of music since the tender age of 6, and her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2022, she catapulted into the spotlight with her platinum hit "Numb Little Bug," captivating listeners with her emotionally transparent style. Her music provides a safe haven for raw honesty and bold expression of feelings, resonating deeply with audiences and amassing nearly 1 billion streams across various platforms.

Building on her success, Em released her EP "Egg in the Backseat" in 2022, a collection of seven tracks that further showcased her comforting familiarity and stark honesty in her sound. As 2023 rolled around, Em continued to make waves with introspective singles like "Roller Coaster Make Me Sad," delving into the world she has crafted around her craft.

Collaborations with artists like Lauren Spencer Smith and GAYLE on the infectious pop single "Fantasy," and the release of "Pedestal," further solidified Em's prowess in expansive pop and clever lyricism. In addition, Em embarked on a tour alongside Lewis Capaldi, gracing 15 cities with her mesmerizing performances. She also collaborated with Stephen Sanchez on his “Until I Found You” track, which they performed live on the Late Night Show with James Corden

Now, as anticipation mounted for her next single "Maybe Life is Good,"released on February 9th, Em is gearing up for her first headline tour, the "Maybe Life is Good Tour," scheduled for the end of February.

The title of Em's single & upcoming tour, "Maybe Life is Good”, stemmed from a profound realization she had about finding a "life vest out of depression." Em acknowledges that life is filled with both good and bad experiences simultaneously, and that's okay. Emphasizing the importance of embracing both aspects of life, she recognizes that the only way forward is to navigate through the highs and lows.

While admitting to leaning more towards pessimism in general, Em sees "Maybe Life is Good" as a bittersweet tribute to discovering the positive amidst adversity. As an artist, she aims to authentically capture the truth of life's complexities, celebrating moments of joy while acknowledging the challenges that come with it.

The simplicity yet depth of the title resonates deeply with many, as it encapsulates the multifaceted nature of existence in just a few words. It serves as a poignant reminder that amidst life's uncertainties, there is always room for hope and resilience.I had the opportunity to chat with Em during the press conference:

Q: Em, Could you tell us some behind the scenes of a recording session with you? How do you cultivate the whimsical lyrics and intricate storytelling that make your work so distinctive?

EB: "Can I be really honest? It does not happen most of the time. I find myself to be a difficult person in a session. Last year, I went through 100 sessions and nothing came out of it. I found once I am feeling better about myself, I can create better out of that experience. It starts with a small piece of an idea and the right people to cultivate that. Tone is so important along with the humor. It is not a “machine” yet where I can create that every time, but it’s very important to me to keep storytelling and humor involved in my music and just the writing process in general”.
